LC Community- Another Strong Day of Attendance at Leverett’s Chapel! Yesterday, our district-wide attendance reached an impressive 98.77%! High School led the way once again with a perfect 100% attendance. Junior High had just one student absent, bringing them to 98.15%. Elementary followed closely with only two students absent, ending the day at 98.35%. That’s only three students absent across the entire district—what an amazing effort by our students, families, and staff. Thank you for your continued commitment to showing up and making education a priority. Go Lions!

World Down Syndrome Day is on March 21 every year. It is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The goal is to help people understand and support those with Down syndrome better. The date being the 21st day of the 3rd month was chosen to represent the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. Leverett's Chapel Student Council invites all students and staff to join us in showing support and building awareness for World Down Syndrome Day by rocking your crazy socks.

LC Community- We are excited to introduce the 2025-2026 Leverett’s Chapel High School Cheer Team! This talented group of students will bring energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit to our games, pep rallies, and community events. Congratulations to Alyvia Page, Itzel Mata, Maria Contreras, Layla Neumeister, Palynn Butler, Magaly Chavez, Brynleigh Seymour, Khloe Clark, Bayleigh Holt, Deysi Perez, Lacie Hayes, Kaylee Kinyon, and Dewaylon Brown (not pictured) for earning their spots on the team. LC Community- This morning, we had the pleasure of recognizing Ms. Amaya as the Leverett’s Chapel Educator of the Month, sponsored by our wonderful partners at Patterson Kilgore Group https://pattersonkilgore.com Ms. Amaya is in her second year at LC, teaching English I, II, III, and IV, and also leading the way as our UIL Academic Coordinator. Beyond her official roles, she has stepped up in so many ways—without being asked—always putting our students first and supporting the vision of LCISD. Her dedication and work ethic truly make a difference, and we are so grateful to have her on our team!​ A huge thank you to Patterson Kilgore Group for their generous support of our educators and schools. LC Community- We want to recognize Trent Wheat and Hayden Crews for their hard work in qualifying for the Boys Region 3 Division 4 Regional Powerlifting Meet and competing with everything they had. While the results may not have been what they hoped for, we are incredibly proud of their effort and determination. Go lions!

LC Community- Alumni Spotlight! At Leverett’s Chapel, we take great pride in celebrating the successes of our current students—but that pride doesn’t end at graduation. Our alumni continue to do extraordinary things, and one of those standout individuals is Matthew Morris, a 2013 LC graduate who embodies perseverance, resilience, and the power of hard work. Matthew’s journey is a testament to the idea that it’s not where you start, but where you end up. His story proves that the sky is the limit when you are willing to put in the effort, hold yourself accountable, and push through challenges. A Path of Service and Dedication Since graduating from LC, Matthew has built an impressive career in the United States Air Force, currently serving as a Technical Sergeant (E6) in Bioenvironmental Engineering. His role is critical—he conducts preventive medicine studies, advises leadership on health risks, and ensures the safety of personnel and the environment. From assessing water quality to responding to disasters, his work has a direct impact on protecting others. His service has taken him across the world, with duty stations in: • Little Rock, Arkansas (2014-2018) • Kunsan, South Korea (2018-2019) • Fairbanks, Alaska (2019-2023) • Las Vegas, Nevada (2023-present) Education & Continuous Growth Matthew’s drive doesn’t stop at his military service—he is committed to education and lifelong learning. He has earned: • Associate’s degree in Applied Science • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety • Currently pursuing a Master’s in Occupational Health and Safety • Several certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals His achievements are a powerful reminder that success is not defined by the size of your school, but by your willingness to work hard and seize every opportunity. A Growing Family & Bright Future While stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, Matthew met his wife, Katrina, and together they welcomed their first daughter, Haizley, who is the spitting image of her mother. Their family continues to grow, as they eagerly anticipate the arrival of their second child in May 2025. A True LC Success Story Matthew Morris is proof that determination and self-discipline can take you anywhere. His journey from Leverett’s Chapel to serving his country on a global scale is an inspiration to all of us. LC Community- We are proud to support Senior Brandon Cedillo as he takes the next step toward his future! Last week, Brandon interviewed with the Eastman Chemical Company scholarship committee—an incredible opportunity as he works to build his life after graduation. This prestigious scholarship supports students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Eastman Chemical, a global specialty materials company, operates in Longview and provides innovative solutions across industries like transportation, building materials, and personal care. Their scholarship program invests in future leaders who demonstrate academic excellence and a drive for innovation. A special thank you to Colby Shaw, an LC graduate from 2016 and current Eastman employee, for serving on the interview committee and helping evaluate candidates. Great job, Brandon, and best of luck! LC Community- Thank you to everyone who joined us to honor and celebrate the lives of Coach Wes McWhorter and Mrs. Terry Robins. It was truly a special and meaningful event, and we are so thankful for the love and support shown by our LC family. A special thank you to Mary Taylor (Wes’s fiancée), Tonya Brown (Terry’s sister), and BK Roe (Terry’s daughter) for being with us. Having you there made this tribute even more special, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their lasting impact together. Don’t Forget About the Blood Drive! LC Community- Thursday was another fantastic day for attendance! Both our High School and Junior High achieved 100% attendance, and our Elementary campus was right behind with only three students absent. This is an incredible accomplishment, and it shows that we are making attendance a priority! Thank you to our students for showing up and staying committed, and to our parents for supporting their education. Attendance is the key to success, and together, we are building a strong foundation for learning and achievement. Keep up the great work, everyone! Go Lions!

Leverett’s Chapel ISD Families, After consulting with SWEPCO, Leverett’s Chapel ISD has made the decision to cancel school today due to the ongoing power outage. SWEPCO has estimated that power will be restored by 10:00 p.m. tonight. LC Community- On Friday, March 7, at 8:35 AM, Leverett’s Chapel ISD will host a memorial ceremony in the auditorium to honor and remember Coach Wes McWhorter and Mrs. Terry Robins—two incredible individuals who dedicated their lives to our students, school, and community. We invite all high school students, alumni, families, and community members to join us for this special event as we celebrate their legacy and the lasting impact they had on Leverett’s Chapel. Blood Drive in Their Honor – March 19 In their spirit of service and giving, we are also partnering with Carter BloodCare and the LCISD Student Council to host a Blood Drive on Wednesday, March 19, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the top parking lot.
