Mrs. Hayley McClendon shared that she only survived one round of laser tag and is still sore from it today. Most importantly, the students represented Leverett’s Chapel very well throughout the trip. They were respectful, well-behaved, and genuinely enjoyed spending time together as a class. There may not have been a direct instructional lesson attached to this trip or some measurable academic outcome connected to the experience. However, not every valuable lesson in life comes from a classroom assignment or a test score.
One of the greatest strengths of a small school like Leverett’s Chapel is the relationships our students build over time. These seniors did not simply attend school together. They grew up together. They shared classrooms, ballgames, field trips, pep rallies, successes, disappointments, and life experiences together over many years. That is something special about a small school community. Students form bonds that often last a lifetime. The people they graduate beside become people they can lean on years later during both the good times and the difficult moments in life. Those relationships matter.
As graduation approaches on May 22, I hope this senior class understands how important these final moments together truly are. The conversations, the laughs, and the memories they are making right now will someday mean more to them than they probably realize today. The truth is that graduation night will most likely be one of the last times this entire group will ever be together in one room again. Life moves fast after high school. Careers begin. Families grow. People move away. However, the relationships built inside a small school like LC often remain strong for many years to come.
I hope our seniors cherish these final days together and appreciate the unique experience they have had growing up at Leverett’s Chapel.
Small school. Big dreams. Bold futures.
