LC Community-
Yesterday, our Pre-K and Kindergarten students had the opportunity to visit the Tyler Zoo; it was a meaningful and engaging learning experience for our youngest learners. This trip provided strong academic value beyond the classroom. Students were able to observe animals in real-world environments, which reinforced science concepts such as habitats, animal characteristics, and basic life needs. In addition, the experience supported vocabulary development, listening skills, and social interaction. Opportunities like this help students make connections between what they learn in class and what they see in the world around them; thus, learning becomes more relevant and lasting.
Experiential learning plays an important role in early childhood education. When students can see, hear, and explore, they develop a deeper understanding of concepts that cannot be fully captured through books alone. These moments build curiosity, encourage questions, and strengthen a lifelong interest in learning.
I also want to thank our seniors who served as chaperones. Their responsibility and care for our younger students made a positive impact on the success of this trip.
At Leverett’s Chapel ISD, we believe that every experience should support student growth and development. Trips like this reflect our commitment to providing meaningful opportunities that contribute to strong student outcomes and real-world learning.
Small school. Big dreams. Bold futures.
