Dan Cahill was recognized for helping students exceed standards in both Biology and Algebra I. His teaching continues to raise the bar in science and math.
Nelwin Perry was recognized for outstanding results in U.S. History, showing strong engagement and achievement in social studies.

These recognitions are a reflection of hard work and commitment to students.
We also want to thank the Leverett’s Chapel ISD School Board for supporting and funding these awards. Your continued support makes it possible to recognize and reward great teaching and leadership.

I always take great pleasure in recognizing the students of Leverett’s Chapel, especially our seniors. They represent the best of who we are as a school and community.
Here is the first of our Senior Spotlights featuring Itzel Mata.
Itzel is a great student who has been involved in virtually every aspect of school life at Leverett’s Chapel. She is dependable, hardworking, and always willing to help others. Her leadership, character, and positive attitude have made a lasting impression on our campus. Itzel has represented our district with pride and excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
Thank you, Itzel, for being a part of the LC family. We wish you the very best as you move forward into the next chapter of your life!

As we close out the third week of the second six weeks and prepare for Fall Break, I want to share a brief reflection and an important reminder. This week, I visited Weatherford ISD and Burleson ISD and saw the many resources and opportunities they offer their students. For a moment, I thought about how nice it would be to have everything they have.
That feeling did not last long. It quickly became clear how special our students, staff, and community truly are. Our children work hard. They often must push twice as hard to reach the same opportunities, and yet they continue to succeed. Much of that success comes from the adults who surround them every day. Our teachers, support staff, coaches, and you, their families, make the difference.
Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious possessions, your children!
The district will be on Fall Break from October 13 through October 20, 2025. School will resume normal hours on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Go Lions!

Today, Mrs. Monaghan's kindergarten class had a hands-on lesson about pollination. Students acted out the process by pretending to be bees and flowers. They moved "pollen" and "nectar" from flower to flower, just like real pollinators do.
It was a little messy, but it was full of learning and fun. The students had the opportunity to experience science in action. We celebrate not only what they learned, but how they learned it. Creativity, movement, and play are all part of the learning process.
Go Lions!

We would like to congratulate De'Waylon Brown and Adrian Harrison on qualifying for Regionals.
Yesterday at the District 20 Region 3 meet, Adrian placed 7th with a time of 20:47.39. De'Waylon followed right behind him with an 8th-place finish and a time of 21:07.53.
They will compete on Monday, October 20th at:
UT Arlington – Harold Patterson Sports Complex
1000 West Bardin Rd
Arlington, TX 76017
Congratulations again on an outstanding performance and for making LC proud.

Thank you, Levi Jacaman and Jacaman Consulting!
We want to thank Levi Jacaman and Jacaman Consulting for sponsoring the new banners recognizing our Band Seniors. Because of your generosity, we were able to celebrate seven outstanding students in a special way.
The banners are now proudly displayed in the gym, and they look incredible. Our seniors and their families truly appreciate this recognition, and it means a lot to everyone here at Leverett’s Chapel ISD.
Thank you again for supporting our school and students. Your continued partnership helps us build memories that will last a lifetime.

LC Alumni Spotlight: Amanda (Harris) Barron — From Black and Gold Athlete to Real Estate Leader
Class of 2010 | Realtor, Texas Real Estate Executives — The Daniels Group | Multi-Million Dollar Producer
Amanda (Harris) Barron is a proud East Texas native and a 2010 graduate of Leverett’s Chapel. She lives in Liberty City with her husband, German, and their three children, Kayden, RJ, and their daughter. If you are looking for her on a weekend, you will most likely find her at the ball field supporting her kids.
Amanda was a standout student-athlete at LC, competing in track, cross country, and volleyball. She worked hard in the classroom and on the field. That foundational work ethic and competitive spirit set the stage for her success as an adult.
After earning her real estate license in 2021, Amanda moved quickly. She achieved million-dollar producer status in her first year and has grown into a multi-million-dollar producer. Amanda has built a strong network in the community by being active and by meeting the wants, needs, and goals of her clients. Her background in customer service, attention to detail, and commitment to earning her clients' trust have made her a reliable partner for buyers, sellers, and investors across East Texas.
Amanda and her husband, German, are fitness enthusiasts. They make health and activity a family priority and often spend time training, working out, and staying active together.
Amanda has overcome obstacles along the way. Through perseverance and the support of her family, she has built a thriving real estate business while raising three children and staying rooted in her community. She brings the same dedication she showed as an LC athlete to every client and every deal.
Quote from Amanda about Leverett’s Chapel:
“Leverett’s Chapel gave me the support and the opportunities I needed to grow. At a small school, you are known, you are encouraged to try new things, and you get the chance to build the confidence and work ethic that carry you through life. I used those lessons every day while building my career and my family here in East Texas.”
A little family humor: Amanda’s mother, Bunny, likes to joke that Amanda is only the second-best realtor in the family.
Amanda, I am very proud to call you one of Leverett’s Chapel’s own and a former student-athlete of mine. Your story is a powerful example of our message: Small school. Big dreams. Bold futures. It is not where you start, it is where you are going.

LC Community-
Today, the Junior High hit 100 percent attendance!
The JH is back and making a statement. They were not about to let Elementary show them up.
Great job to our students, staff, and families for making it happen.
Let us keep this attendance streak going.

Shout out to our Elementary campus.
Yesterday, every student showed up. That is 100 percent attendance!
Way to go, Elementary. This kind of effort sets the foundation for success.
Thank you to our parents and staff for your support. Let us keep it going strong.

Yesterday, four of our seniors were invited to attend the UT Tyler Top 25 Percent Day. This event recognizes students who are in the top 25% of their class for their outstanding academic achievement.
Thomas Johnson, De'Waylon Brown, Itzel Mata, and Layla Nuemeister represented our district very well. Each student visited the academic department they are interested in and had the opportunity to speak with faculty and department leaders.
Opportunities like this are very important for our students. Experiences outside the classroom help them explore their interests, connect with professionals, and start shaping their future paths. We are grateful to UT Tyler for hosting this event and for showing our students what is possible beyond high school.
I am proud of how our students represented themselves and our school.

This week, our Administration Team of Dr. Peddy, Dr. Saxton, Mr. Borden, and I spent two days at Learning Labs hosted by Weatherford ISD and Burleson ISD. Both districts opened their campuses and classrooms to us as part of the Texas Strategic Leadership Program through the Texas Education Agency.
The TSL Program helps districts like ours build strong systems for leadership, teaching, and continuous improvement. It is designed to help schools grow and create the best learning environment possible for students.
A big thank you to our partners at Region 7 for their continued support during this process, especially Dr. Drew Howard and Mr. Richard Nash. Thank you also to Joshua ISD and Granbury ISD for their presentations and for sharing their successes with us.
This experience was well worth the time and gave us great ideas and insight to bring back home to Leverett’s Chapel. I am proud to be a Lion and look forward to the continued and intentional work that lies ahead as we work to make Leverett’s Chapel the best small school in Texas.
Small School. Big Dreams. Bold Futures.

Yesterday, our Juniors and Seniors visited LeTourneau University for a campus tour and attended the College and Career Expo at the Maude Cobb Convention Center.
At LeTourneau University, students walked through the campus, saw classrooms, and learned more about what college life is like. Visits like this help students see what is possible and begin thinking about their next steps after high school.
At the Maude Cobb Expo, students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from colleges, trade schools, the military, and local businesses. They learned about different paths they can take after graduation, whether that means going to college, learning a trade, joining the military, or starting a career.
Thank you to Mrs. Kaufman, Mrs. McClendon, and Mr. Borden for taking our students and helping them prepare for the future.
We are proud to support our students as they explore all the opportunities ahead of them.
Go Lions!
