LC Community- We are incredibly proud to recognize both a current and former Leverett’s Chapel band student for their outstanding musical achievements! This past Saturday, De’Waylon Brown had the honor of performing at the Kilgore College Invitational Wind Symphony Concert, an event where talented high school students are invited to play alongside the college band. Additionally, we want to celebrate Isaira Avalos, a 2024 LC graduate, who is now a proud member of the Kilgore College Wind Symphony! Great job, De’Waylon, and Isaira! Your hard work and dedication to music continue to make us proud. Go Lions!

LC Community- Leverett’s Chapel Girls Powerlifters Shine at Region 3 Championships The Leverett’s Chapel girls powerlifting team showcased their strength and determination at the Region 3 Championships (1A/2A) in Commerce High School on February 28, 2025. Competing against some of the top lifters in the region, these athletes delivered an outstanding performance. Layla Neumeister fought hard and secured a 9th-place finish in her weight class. Palynne Butler put up an impressive showing, earning a 5th-place medal. Laina Hayes had a phenomenal performance, securing a 3rd place medal and making her mark among the best in the region. A huge congratulations to these talented athletes for their dedication and hard work throughout the season! Special thanks to Coach Bowers for leading the team to another successful year. Great job, ladies! Go Lions!

Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Tuesday, March 4th, the Pre-UIL band trip has been canceled. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 26th.

LC Community- We want to congratulate Senior Pitcher Carson Ford and the Leverett's Chapel Baseball Team on their dominant performance last week against New Summerfield! Carson delivered an outstanding game, leading the team to a 21-0 victory. His stats speak for themselves: 3 innings pitched 9 strikeouts 1 walk 0 hits allowed He also achieved an immaculate inning (3 strikeouts on 9 pitches) in the first and pitched a no-hitter! Way to go, Carson and the LC Baseball Team! Keep up the great work! Go Lions!

LC Community- Our students had an outstanding week at the 56th Annual Rusk County Youth Project Show (RCYPS), showcasing their hard work, dedication, and craftsmanship. We kicked off the week with a huge success as Mackenzie Hayes won Reserve Champion with her market lamb. She followed that up with another impressive achievement, earning Class Reserve Champion for her Ferris Wheel Planter, which also placed 12th in the sale. Jasmin Barber had a fantastic showing as well, making the sale and placing 24th with her Outdoor Tiki Hut. Chris Smith and Laina Hayes also did an incredible job, presenting their well-crafted Ornamental Windmill and Bench Planter, respectively. These students have worked tirelessly, braving cold temperatures and long hours to perfect their projects. A special thank you to Mr. Tidwell and Mr. Hart for their guidance and encouragement throughout this process. We also want to recognize the parents of these students—your dedication and involvement make these successes possible. Congratulations to all of our students on a fantastic RCYPS! Go Lions!

LC Community- One of my greatest joys as Superintendent is recognizing and celebrating the successes and achievements of our current students. Watching them grow, learn, and accomplish their goals is truly inspiring. However, I don’t want our recognition to stop at graduation. I have been part of the LC community for 22 years, and over the years, I have seen so many of our former students go on to achieve incredible things in their lives. Their successes—big and small—deserve to be celebrated just as much. Graduating from LC doesn’t mean you stop being part of our family; in many ways, it makes your connection even more meaningful. After all, our mission as a school is to prepare students for life beyond our walls, and seeing that preparation come to fruition is something truly special. With that in mind, I want to expand our celebrations to include our alumni. If you or someone you know graduated from LC and is doing exceptional things, I would love to hear about it and share their story with our community. LC Community- Big Congratulations to Senior Mackenzie Hayes! Leverett's Chapel ISD is proud to congratulate our senior, Mackenzie Hayes, for being awarded Reserve Champion Market Lamb at the Rusk County Youth Project Show (RCYPS) in Henderson, Texas. She earned this honor today, and we couldn’t be more proud! Mackenzie will be attending Stephen F. Austin State University, where she plans to major in Agricultural Development and minor in Animal Science, with the goal of becoming an Agricultural Science Teacher. Great job, Mackenzie! We can't wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish. Go Lions!

LC Community- Last night, the Leverett’s Chapel Board of Trustees unanimously voted to make something very special official. It is both deeply personal to me and meaningful to the entire Board that we take this step in honoring Coach Wes McWhorter and Mrs. Terry Robins. Taken from us far too soon, Coach McWhorter and Mrs. Terry dedicated their lives to the students and families of Leverett’s Chapel. They always went above and beyond, never hesitating to lend a hand—whether in the classroom, cafeteria, ballfields, or concession stands. No matter the time or place, you could always count on them to be there, supporting, encouraging, and caring for everyone around them. Even as we approach eight years since their passing, their impact, love, and spirit remain strong. The Board and I wanted to ensure that their names would always be remembered, their dedication forever honored, and their legacy permanently woven into the heart of our community. Please share and tag others who knew and loved them. Let’s make sure their legacy reaches every corner of our community. They will always be a part of Leverett’s Chapel—a part of our story, our history, and most of all, our family. They will forever be Lions. Go Lions!

LC Community- Our Junior High campus has once again achieved 100% attendance! This is an incredible accomplishment, and I want to commend our students, parents, and staff for their commitment to education. Attendance is the foundation of learning and success. We cannot grow, achieve, or reach our full potential if we are not in school. Let’s keep this momentum going! LC Community- It is with great pride that we recognize Lana Dean as Leverett’s Chapel Educator of the Month, an honor presented by Patterson Kilgore. Lana has been a dedicated member of our LC family for 20 years, contributing in various roles—from working in the cafeteria to serving as a bus driver—before excelling in her current role as a Special Education Paraprofessional. Beyond her commitment to our students, Lana is also an LC graduate from the Class of 1978, making her impact on our school community even more special. We deeply appreciate her dedication, kindness, and tireless efforts in shaping the lives of our students. LC Community- After two tough weeks of flu, colds, earaches, sore throats, and all sorts of illnesses, I’m thrilled to share that LCISD had an outstanding student attendance of 98.35% yesterday! I know it hasn’t been easy, but we’ve pushed through together. Let’s keep promoting good attendance, strengthening our partnership, and encouraging our kiddos to be in school whenever they can. Now, let’s just hope this yucky weather today doesn’t throw us another curveball! (Wouldn’t that be just our luck? ) Thank you all for your dedication and support! Go Lions!

LC Community- Congratulations to the Leverett's Chapel High School Boys Powerlifting Team on an outstanding performance at the Union Grove Powerlifting Meet! Great job, boys! Your hard work and dedication are paying off! Hayden brought home 2nd place, with a 185lb squat, 140lb bench, and 260lb deadlift, totaling 585 lbs. He is now 4th in the region—keep pushing, Hayden! Chris dominated his division, placing 1st! He lifted an impressive 300lb squat, 205lb bench, and 325lb deadlift, for a total of 830 lbs. He now sits at 1st in the region—way to go, Chris! Dewaylon finished 5th in his weight class, showcasing major progress with a 315lb squat, 200lb bench, and 330lb deadlift, totaling 845 lbs. He moved up from #60 to #35 in the region—a huge improvement, Dewaylon! Trent took home 2nd place in his weight class with a massive 415lb squat, 250lb bench, and 475lb deadlift, bringing his total to 1140 lbs. He now sits at 10th in the region—great work, Trent! Keep pushing and setting new records! Go Lions!
