Follow this link to learn about virtual college fairs. This is a great resource for anyone to learn more about college. It is free and you can stay in the comfort and safety of your home.
The junior class will be taking the PSAT in January. The PSAT is usually given in October, but the College Board has offered an additional testing date in January this year because of COVID 19. Testing will be at the high school. Testing time will be announced. Students can sign up to take the test in the counseling office.
The University of Texas at Tyler will be hosting on line workshops, The Patriot Initiative, for students and parents this fall . These workshops are free and will cover topics such as Admissions, Housing, Financial Aid, etc. The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 22, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm and will cover the admissions process. Students who participate in this virtual event and complete their application by midnight on September 23 will be eligible to have their application fee waived. Kilgore College will host the annual Greater East Texas College Night in November at Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview. College Night is now automated. Students can register by going to www.gotocollegefairs.com.
If you would be interested in donating your time to be a vendor at the Career Inspire for eighth graders this fall please contact Ms. McChristian at at dmcchristian@leverettschapelisd.net. Vendors are needed in all areas to discuss their career/trade with the area high school juniors in attendance. Juniors from Longview, Pine Tree, Spring Hill, Gladewater, Harleton, New Diana, White Oak, Leverett's Chapel, Sabine and a few other area schools will be in attendance.
Leverett's Chapel Eighth Grade Students will attend the Career Inspire this fall. While attending the Career Inspire, students will learn about various careers, career outlook, job skills, educational opportunities, etc. This event is hosted by the Longview Economic Development Corporation, Junior Achievement and the Greater Longview Organization of Business and Education (GLOBE).
The ASVAB will be given to senior, junior and sophomore students on Friday, January 22, 2021 in the LCISD Auditorium.
Kim McNeel and Teresa Melton were honored at the annual GLOBE (Greater Longview Organization for Business and Education) Teacher/Educator of the Year Awards Program in April. Congratulations Kim and Teresa!

Leverett's Chapel juniors will be attending the GLOBE Career Expo in February. Students will have the opportunity to learn about different careers and the education and training needed to pursue these career choices. The date and time will be announced soon.
Beginning in the Fall of 2019 Kilgore College will begin a new game changing program for dual credit students. Dual Credit students who earn a minimum of 12 semester hours with a 2.0 gpa and attend Kilgore College the Fall semester after high school graduation are eligible for the same 40% tuition discount they receive on dual credit courses when they enroll as a full time student. Students must make progress toward a degree or certificate, complete the FAFSA and KC scholarship application. Additional information can be found at www.kilgore.edu
Seniors: make sure to check your school email for updated scholarship lists. This list will be updated as new scholarships come in. For scholarships that do not have a direct link listed, please stop by the counseling office for an application.

All senior students who are planning to attend college after high school graduation should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA opens October 1 and the priority deadline for Texas students is January 15. It is important to note that many scholarships require FAFSA completion. Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov
