At a school board meeting held on May 17, 2021, the board agreed to begin to loosen some of the COVID guidelines set in place moving forward this year. The change will take effect as of Wednesday, May 26th, which will be the first day of summer for the staff and the students. As of that day, wearing masks/face coverings will be optional. This means any staff member working during the summer hours or any student who is at the school for summer school or workouts will NOT be required to wear a mask. We will no longer be doing the temperature checks on the buses and when the students arrive at school. We will still continue to have water bottles for the students and they may still bring their own water bottle to school moving into the summer. We will also still have hand sanitizers located around the school campus if it’s needed. The staff will still stress to the students to wash their hands frequently. Finally, we will still have the option to test a student for COVID if they feel they are exhibiting any symptoms through the nurse’s office. All of these changes will carry into the start of the 2021-2022 school year as well.
If, for some reason, the COVID requirements need to be reexamined in the future due to county guidelines or state guidelines, we may have to revert back to the original COVID restrictions for the safety of all our staff and students.
